Welcome!

Cherry Way

The Matamata Camera Club meets on the second Tuesday of every month and anyone considering joining is most welcome to attend. These meetings are a fairly informal gathering of like minded individuals who get the maximum enjoyment out of their chosen hobby.

About Us

Posted on April 04, 2010

The club was originally established in the early 60's, and after a hiatus of several years was reformed at the beginning of 2001 with Sam Harris as president.

We currently have fifteen to twenty attendees at recent meeetings all from diverse backgrounds, but with one thing in common - a love of photography. What we lack in size we make up for in enthusiasm, and new members will be warmly welcomed to our ranks. All photographic mediums are catered for, so whether you shoot film, or digital, colour, or black & white, you are sure to find a fellow enthusiast at the club.

Our aim is both enjoy socialising with fellow photographers and to promote photography as an art form. To this end we have competitions on a chosen theme at our monthly meetings, to encourage new and innovative ideas.

So if you have a film camera gathering dust in the cupboard, or if you have just bought the latest digital and need help figuring out its finer details, you're bound to find someone at the MCC who can help you.

Field Trips

Posted on February 05, 2008

We endeavour to organize a field trip on a regular basis to stimulate the creative juices. These are hugely enjoyable and have in recent times included, Glenbrook Vintage Railway, the Early New Zealand Museum at Tirau, and the Hot Rod show in Cambridge. Sometimes the creative juices don't flow, but whatever the outcome, we always manage to have fun.
